Audi A2 e-tron – the most economical electric car of the brand

- The Audi A2 e-tron consumes 12.9 kWh/100 km – the most economical electric vehicle of the brand.
- Batteries of 52.6 and 84 kWh are available; range up to 646 km (WLTP).
- Pre-orders in Europe start – price from €38,000 for the base version.
The German automaker Audi, part of the Volkswagen Group, continues moderate electrification of its model range, despite abandoning previous plans for a rapid transition to a fully electric fleet. The new compact hatchback A2 e-tron comes to the forefront, which according to official data consumes 12.9 kWh per 100 km, making it the most economical electric vehicle of the brand.
This model is positioned as the spiritual successor to the original A2 with a diesel engine, which attracted buyers over 25 years ago with its low fuel consumption – less than three liters per 100 km. Although the figure of 12.9 kWh is not a world record, it is considered excellent for a car of its class, and no other Audi electric vehicle can currently offer such efficiency.
A key factor in the low consumption is the thoughtful aerodynamics: the drag coefficient has been reduced to 0.24 thanks to the smooth roof silhouette, flush door handles, and a solid underbody shield. Two battery options are available with capacities of 52.61 kWh and 84 kWh. The latter provides a claimed range of 646 km according to the WLTP cycle, which is considered more reflective of real-world use than the Chinese CLTC.
The power of the drive ranges from 125 kW to 240 kW (170–326 hp), and the rear-wheel drive system remains typical for modern electric vehicles. Audi plans to actively promote the A2 e-tron as a model capable of strengthening the brand's image and attracting new customers.
The electric vehicle supports energy feedback to the grid and can power external devices. Fast charging reaches 183 kW: the 84 kWh battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes, while the smaller battery can be charged in 14 minutes at a power of 100 kW. The average 61 kWh battery requires about 25 minutes at 105 kW.
Inside the A2 e-tron, a set of modern driver assistance systems is installed: automatic parking, adaptive cruise control with obstacle avoidance, and more. The body length of 4.32 m and a wheelbase of 2.77 m provide a spacious interior, and a panoramic roof with an area of 1.6 m² is available as an option. The interior is designed in a minimalist style, where the main functions are controlled by physical buttons on the steering wheel and on the central console without a traditional tunnel. The instrument panel features an 11.9-inch digital display, while the central touchscreen has a diagonal of 12.8 inches.
For convenience, the cabin is equipped with Fidlock magnetic mounts that allow for securing smartphone holders and small containers. Pre-orders in Europe will start the day after tomorrow, with a starting price of €38,000 for the version with 170 hp and a 52 kWh battery. More powerful options and versions with a larger battery will be available later.
