CD Projekt Red раскрыла цели ремастера The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

- The remaster of Witcher 3 will be released on September 29.
- Updates include animation, gameplay, and UI.
- The goal is to make the game modern and convenient.
- Sales of the series have exceeded 65 million copies.
In an interview with PC Gamer, Executive Producer of CD Projekt Red Jakub Kuczynski detailed the studio's plans for the release of the remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game was originally released in 2015 and over more than a decade has sold over 65 million copies on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
After seven years since the release, the company has released an update for current generation consoles, which mainly affected the technical side – improved textures and higher frame rates. However, according to Kutshuba, the remaster will go significantly further, addressing aspects that have not changed since the original release.
What will change in the remaster?
The main innovations concern animation, gameplay mechanics, and user interface. The studio plans to 'refresh' character animations, improve the responsiveness of combat systems, and simplify menu navigation, eliminating those 'unpleasant surprises' that sometimes occurred for players in the original version.
In addition, the team is working to ensure that the game looks modern and can compete with new releases. According to Kutsuba, after implementing all the improvements, players will find it hard to want to return to the old version: 'It's so easy to get used to the new improvements that going back will be very difficult.'
The remaster will be available on all platforms where the original game is already present, and it will also support the new Nintendo Switch 2 console, which will expand the audience among owners of the latest generation of devices.
The official re-release date is set for September 29, giving fans almost two weeks after the announcement to prepare for a new experience in the world of Geralt of Rivia.
For CD Projekt Red, this project is important not only as a commercial step but also as a way to support the reputation of the series, demonstrating that even after years, the game can be updated to meet modern technical requirements without losing its original spirit.
