Worms: Galactic Tactics – a tactical roguelike in 3D arenas from Team17

- Worms: Galactic Tactics – a tactical roguelike of 2027.
- Fully destructible 3D arenas and new types of weapons.
- Competitive online mode and local play.
- Squad customization: hats, voices, gravestones.
Publisher Team17, in collaboration with studio Absolutely Games, officially presented Worms: Galactic Tactics – the next installment of the popular series, but with a significant change in genre. The game will be available in 2027 on PC (Steam) and on consoles Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Gameplay and format
Worms: Galactic Tactics is a tactical roguelike where each match takes place on a fully destructible 3D field. Players form a squad of several worms and go through a series of battles called the Galactic Challenge. After each victory, new opponents, upgrades, and opportunities for experimental strategy building are unlocked. The final point of the campaign is the showdown with Emperor Flugg – the main boss of the tournament.
The developers promise a combination of proven mechanics from the Worms series and roguelike elements. In the arena, players can use familiar types of weapons, such as the bazooka, as well as new means of destruction: Beambow, Meteor Sheep, and Die-napple. Weapons will be upgraded after each battle, and players will be able to combine modules to create unique sets.
Tactics and Destruction
The fully destructible landscape opens up wide tactical possibilities: players can set ambushes, occupy high ground, or completely erase obstacles. When shooting, it is important to consider position and timing of the attack, and some actions are accompanied by mini-games that increase accuracy and allow for critical damage. Loot boxes and accumulated resources after defeat can be spent on squad upgrades to continue the next run.
Competitive mode and customization
For PvP enthusiasts, a competitive mode is provided where two players can battle online or on the same device. The developers paid special attention to customization: dozens of hats, voice packs, and gravestones will allow players to dress their worms in a variety of styles – from British policemen to a galactic gang of misfits.
In addition, Team17 confirmed that they are already working on another game in the Worms series, but there are no details yet.
The game will not be localized into Russian, but it will be available for digital purchase through Steam and official console stores. Previously, several gameplay videos surfaced online, indicating that the project is in an active development phase.
