- The Russian killers Jim and Jane are hunting River and Sid
- Louisa Guy and Moira rejoin the Slow House team
- Dina Taverner dismantles Emma Flight, sending her to Slow House
The third episode of the sixth season of the British spy thriller «Slow Horses», titled «Resurrection», opens in River's grandfather's house (Jack Loudon), where Sid (Olivia Cooke) seems to have returned to a normal life. River, clearly surprised by her appearance, asks questions that the viewers are also asking: how did she survive, what happens next?
Soon, new antagonists arrive at the house – Russian twin assassins known by the aliases Jim and Jane. Their goal is to eliminate Sid, and a cat-and-mouse game begins, filled with the show's characteristic humor (for example, discussing the cost of a cow) and hints at a broader seasonal intrigue related to the Russian underground.
Jim and Jane attempt to break into the house, but their effort looks ridiculous: they pretend to be 'lost' and then make a failed attempt at breaking in. Instead of the expected combat confrontation, viewers see River and Sid quickly escaping, and then, hiding, discussing the past while the killers continue to track their trail.
The climax of the episode occurs when Jim and Jane find a trail leading directly to River and Sid, and in the final scene, they appear in the parking lot, ready for a new confrontation. This moment emphasizes the constant threat posed by the Russian group and raises questions about the future development of the conflict.
In addition to the main storyline, the episode actively features the women of Slow House. Louisa Guy (Rosalind Elazar), who previously left for the corporate world, confronts her past 'slow horse', while Moira (Joanna Scanlan), who survived gas poisoning, shows signs of delirium, adding a comedic element.
Catherine Standish (Saskia Reeves) continues to mourn her late boss Charles Partner, her personal issues remain in the background, but they highlight the emotional burden of the characters. Dina Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas), head of the First Division, faces increasing pressure from colleagues after a failed interview at Talkpoint and decides to demote Emma Flight (Ruth Bradley), sending her to Slow House.
The episode 'Resurrection' demonstrates how the series skillfully combines espionage intrigue, humor, and character development, while simultaneously advancing the seasonal plot about a Russian conspiracy and revealing new facets of relationships within the Slow House team.
