- The game is a remake of SC and a continuation of the first part.
- 96% positive reviews on Steam on the first day.
- There is no Russian localization, a demo is available.
Last night, the developers Nihon Falcom announced the release of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter – a completely revamped version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, which also serves as a direct continuation of last year's Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter.
The Trails in the Sky series, part of the larger project The Legend of Heroes, has been capturing the attention of JRPG fans for several years due to its deep storyline and detailed world. The first volume was released in 2011, and in 2023, the company presented a remake of the first part, which received positive feedback and sparked interest in further re-releases.
Platforms and Localization
The new remake has appeared simultaneously on four platforms: PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game does not officially support the Russian language, however, a demo version is available for anyone wishing to familiarize themselves with the updated gameplay before purchasing.
Storylines
The story begins where the original game left off. The main character, Joshua, decides to leave his group to find the members of the mysterious organization 'Uroboros', thwart their conspiracy, and take revenge for the past. Meanwhile, Estelle and her friends continue their search, striving to bring Joshua back home.
The first day after the release brought almost 500 reviews on Steam, of which 96% rated the game as 'very positive'. Such figures indicate a high level of audience interest in the updated version.
Players note the improved graphics, smoother gameplay, and high-quality voice acting, which make the remake visually appealing and technically modern. The revamped combat systems and detailed locations that meet current RPG genre standards are especially praised.
Criticism is mainly focused on the pacing of the narrative – some find the development of events too slow, and certain dungeons appear excessively large, which can complicate gameplay.
Player communities are already discussing the possibility of a remake of the third part of the series. According to some fans, good sales of the first remade part could serve as an incentive for further re-releases.
Thus, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter represents a significant step for Falcom: it combines the nostalgia of veterans and attracts new players by offering a modern visual and audio format while retaining the distinctive features of the original story.
