Uber is a case where the idea matters more than the program: the company does not own cars and does not formally hire drivers, but connects supply and demand through a phone and takes a commission. Since 2009, this model has reshaped the taxi market worldwide and also gave rise to the word 'uberization' and endless lawsuits about whether to consider the driver a partner or an employee. The user got the main benefits: the price is known in advance, the car is visible on the map, payment is made by card without cash, and the driver and passenger rate each other. Dynamic pricing during peak hours is the flip side of the same mathematics. In Russia, Uber operates independently in practice: in 2018, the business merged with Yandex.Taxi, and orders are serviced by a common platform, while the familiar interface remains in Yandex Go. The app is free and available on Android and iOS; in several countries, food and scooters can also be ordered through it.
