Rockstar announced a closed beta‑test of Nopixel V — the first role‑playing server for GTA Online.

- Closed beta Nopixel V begins on 8 September
- Invitation‑only access for streamers and content creators
- Server adds deeper roleplay, new customization and graphics
Rockstar continues to develop GTA Online, despite preparing for the long-awaited release of GTA VI, and has introduced the first official roleplay server that will operate within the existing online mode.
The idea for the project arose after last year's fall announcement of a collaboration with the creators of the popular roleplay server Nopixel, known in the GTA V community. The new joint product is called Nopixel V.
Closed beta testing is scheduled for September 8 and will launch through the official Rockstar Games launcher. Participation will be by invitation only, primarily for well-known streamers and content creators actively working in the GTA Online community.
In the press release, the company urged players to connect to streaming platforms on the specified day to witness the continuation of the Nopixel community's adventures in Los Santos, where both familiar characters and new heroes will appear.
According to representatives of Nopixel Studios, the server will offer a deeper role-playing experience: a revamped character personalization system, improved graphics, and a range of gameplay enhancements aimed at more realistic player interactions.
For many players, this is an important step, as over 13 years since the release of GTA V, total sales have exceeded 230 million copies. The success of the game is largely tied to the active modding community that has created user-generated content, often in conflict with Rockstar's policies.
After a long struggle with user-generated content, the company decided to officially support modding by providing a platform for role-playing servers. This move could set a precedent for future projects, including the upcoming GTA VI.
Development prospects
The community is already discussing how Nopixel V may affect the overall dynamics of GTA Online and what new opportunities will arise for players before the next installment of the series is released. Official support for role-playing servers is expected to boost interest in the current game and create a foundation for more flexible integration of user-generated content in future Rockstar projects.
Thus, Nopixel V opens a new chapter in the history of GTA Online, demonstrating Rockstar's willingness to integrate player creativity into official products and strengthening the game's position amid growing competition in the open-world genre.
