Postal 2 Redux: a remake of the cult shooter is slated for spring 2027

The developers of Impact Inked and Team Beef have announced a collaboration with the publisher Running With Scissors – a remaster of the famous trash shooter Postal 2, titled Postal 2 Redux. According to the official statement, the game will be available for sale in spring 2027, and ahead of the release, the studio has presented a set of screenshots showcasing the updated visuals.
Gameplay and storyline concept
The basic mechanics and storyline objectives will remain the same: the player will once again take on the role of 'The Dude', who in ordinary everyday situations, like going for milk or delivering mail, can provoke complete chaos. This approach to combining the mundane and the absurd has already become a trademark of the original, and according to the developers, it will be preserved without significant changes.
In addition to classic missions, the remaster is set to retain the signature slang of the early 2000s, which may require explanations for new players. Nevertheless, the team assures that the atmosphere and humor of the original will be maintained.
Platforms and Localization
Initially, Postal 2 Redux will be available on PC via Steam, as well as on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, in PlayStation VR2 virtual reality, and on the Oculus Quest platform. The release for Xbox and Nintendo Switch is scheduled for a later date. An important addition is the Russian localization of the text, which will expand the audience in the CIS countries.
Visual design
According to the presented screenshots, the game looks similar to how it appeared in early promotional materials for Postal 3, which has sparked interest among fans of the series. The developers promise improved graphics, but there is currently no official information on specific technical solutions.
Community expectations and concerns
Players have raised questions about the quality of the graphic assets: some noticed familiar models resembling free asset packs, as well as elements similar to phone booths from other projects. Additionally, the use of the Unity game engine is being discussed, which in some cases has led to performance drops and issues with visual effects, as happened with the recent remaster of Dead Rising.
Critics also point to the risk of deterioration in aspects such as reflections in mirrors and dismembered animations, which had limited capabilities in the original Postal 2. Despite these concerns, many wish the team good luck and hope that the remaster does not repeat the mistakes observed in some other projects.
Prospects
If the developers can implement the promised improvements without losing the signature style, Postal 2 Redux could attract both old fans and new players interested in provocative games with dark humor. The release expected in spring 2027 will provide an opportunity to assess how modern technology can update a classic product without losing its original spirit.
