In brief
  • Control Resonant will be released on September 24 on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series
  • The game will feature a flexible assistance mode with preset profiles
  • Difficulty settings work both ways – easier and harder
  • The choice of parameters does not affect the achievement acquisition

Remedy Studio continues to inform players about the upcoming action game Control Resonant, sharing details about the PlayStation 5 version and extensive settings aimed at a wide range of players.

In the official PlayStation blog, Remedy's communications director Thomas Puha listed the key innovations. The main information about the difficulty system was presented by lead gameplay designer Sergey Mokhov, noting that traditional difficulty levels often turn out to be too easy: simply changing enemy health results in them becoming either 'damage sponges' or 'cannon fodder'.

The developers emphasized that players vary in skills and limitations. Some may struggle with precise dodging timings but easily navigate a complex resource system. To account for such differences, Remedy has implemented an assist mode with flexible parameters, which will be available right at launch and will allow adjustments to settings as players progress.

To avoid overwhelming newcomers with an abundance of options, pre-set profiles for different user groups are provided. Unlike the first part of Control, in Resonant players will be able to not only simplify but also complicate the game: the same parameters work both ways, allowing for increased damage dealt and stricter timing.

In addition to adjusting difficulty, the assist mode includes additional features that enhance accessibility: control sensitivity adjustments, action execution hints, and other options aimed at players with disabilities.

It is important to note that the settings chosen by the player do not affect achievement acquisition, as confirmed by a representative of Remedy.

Control Resonant will officially release on September 24, 2024, on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, and will also support Russian subtitles. The first reviews will appear on September 18 at 16:00 MSK, after the embargo is lifted.
