Developer Unicellular Games, in collaboration with publisher Astrolabe Games, has announced the official release date of their new project Fall Up – December 3. The game will be available digitally via Steam, as well as on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
Concept and visual style
Fall Up is a 2.5D platformer where traditional 2D gameplay is combined with three-dimensional visual design. The game world is crafted in a vibrant fantasy style: giant fruits, whimsical mechanisms, and friendly robots create an atmosphere that is both strange and captivating.
Main character
Players control a mechanical rabbit named Labi. According to the story, he has been accidentally equipped with the shortest yet extremely powerful limbs among all robots. This allows Labi to accelerate to high speeds, bounce off walls, and deliver strong blows to enemies. The character's arsenal includes dashes, double jumps, and a unique ability to throw a 'warp ball' to which he can teleport.
In addition to traditional combat, the game offers the ability to manipulate enemies: you can provoke them, make them attack each other, or even use them as living platforms to overcome obstacles.
Collection and progress
During the journey through the levels, the player will need to collect batteries. Some are located in prominent places, while others require careful inspection of the locations. Collected batteries can be exchanged for gems that unlock new areas and additional challenges.
If the player collects all the batteries in a specific level, a time trial will unlock. Successfully completing it grants a final gem, which serves as the concluding element of the collection.
Content volume
Developers claim that the first playthrough will take over 20 hours, making Fall Up a sufficiently substantial project for platformer enthusiasts. The game features a variety of bosses, each requiring a different approach and the use of Labi's unique abilities.
Release context
Fall Up continues the trend of growing independent 2.5-D platformers that combine nostalgic gameplay with modern visual solutions. The project's appearance at the end of the year will allow it to secure a spot in the new releases lists on both PC and major consoles.
The game is already available for pre-order, and those interested can add it to their wishlist in the respective platform stores.
