  • The action takes place in the 2000s in the city of Ratfield with the ability to tune cars.

In recent years, players have shown an increased desire to return to arcade racing games with an open world reminiscent of the golden era of the early 2000s. This demand is met by the new game Heatwarped, developed by the small independent studio Sealime.

Concept and World

Heatwarped features the open city of Ratfield and surrounding areas, where players can freely explore the streets, participate in street drifts, and compete in online mode. The game is set in the style of the early 2000s, highlighted by retro design and musical accompaniment.

The developers stated that the project is directly inspired by Need for Speed Underground 2, which is evident from the visual style, car tuning system, and variety of races. The game features car personalization with rare parts, allowing changes to the appearance and characteristics of the vehicles.

Availability and community response

Simultaneously with the announcement on Steam, a free demo version was released, allowing players to try out the basic mechanics, graphics, and atmosphere of the project. According to comments under the trailer on YouTube, over a thousand viewers supported the news, and one commenter exclaimed: 'Finally NFS Underground 3.' Such responses indicate a real interest in the revival of the genre.

The screenshots presented in the press materials showcase vibrant neon streets, detailed cars, and dynamic weather, creating a sense of nostalgia for classic arcade racing.

An important element of the project is a wide range of racing modes, including single trials, multiplayer competitions, and special tasks that require players not only speed but also a strategic approach to tuning.

Currently, the developers have not announced support for the Russian language, which may limit part of the audience; however, the game is available in English and promises an international release.

The Heatwarped trailer was first published by Russian blogger and modder Dmitry Zotov (known by the pseudonyms Laymer and elaymm4). His channel played a role as a mediator between the studio and the gaming community, drawing attention to the project.

Heatwarped could be an important step in the revival of arcade racing with an open world, filling the niche left after the departure of NFS Underground 2. If the demo meets expectations, the game is capable of gathering a large audience of fans of fast cars and free exploration of a virtual city.
