- Nile Druckmann announced two new projects for The Last of Us in early development
- Intergalactic: The Heretic Project will be fully revealed in 2027
- The release date of Intergalactic has not been announced yet
- HBO series The Last of Us will conclude its third season
At the annual event dedicated to the game The Last of Us, Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann summarized the year and shared plans for the near future. At the beginning, he expressed gratitude to fans for participating in the charity fundraiser for AbleGamers, which raised over $11,000.
Druckmann clarified that the team is working on two new projects related to the world of The Last of Us. Both projects are in the early stages of development, so there are no details yet. According to the director, they will 'expand the canon' of the series beyond Part I and Part II and will only be created if there are truly significant ideas. The studio emphasizes that returning to the familiar universe will only be justified if there is something to say to its fans.
As for the next major game from the studio, it was about the sci-fi project Intergalactic: The Heretic Project. Druckmann stated that in the remaining months of 2023, the studio will remain silent, but plans to fully unveil the game in 2027, presenting its world and storylines. According to him, the project is considered the most ambitious in Naughty Dog's history, and the delay in the demonstration is due to the need to refine details. Fans disappointed by the lack of an Intergalactic showcase at the last Sony State of Play can expect a more detailed presentation in 2027.
Neil Druckmann also noted that the team understands the long wait and appreciates the audience's support, promising to create a product worthy of the players' patience.
In addition to news about video games, it was mentioned at the end of the broadcast that the HBO television series based on The Last of Us will conclude with a third season, which is already in production.
Thus, in the coming years, fans can expect both an expansion of the familiar post-apocalyptic universe and a completely new science fiction experience from a studio known for its quality narrative games.
