Infiniti LE – electric car with wireless charging

At one time, the transmission of radio and television signals through the air, and later wireless Internet, seemed unimaginable. Now, all of this is commonplace, used by billions of people around the world. In a few years, charging electric vehicles without any electrical cables may become just as familiar. The first such car, the Infiniti LE, has already been presented to the public at the New York Auto Show!
Nissan introduced the technology for wireless charging of cars using electromagnetic induction several months ago. However, contrary to all expectations, the first mass-produced car of this type will not be the Nissan Leaf, but another creation of this company – the Nissan Infiniti LE.

The concept of the Infiniti LE car was recently presented at the New York Auto Show (2012 New York Auto Show). This car will enter mass production in just two years!

The Nissan Infiniti LE is an electric sedan with very streamlined shapes (its drag coefficient is 0.25, which is one of the best in the world!). This car has a motor with a power of 136 horsepower and a 24-kilowatt battery. On a full charge, the Infiniti LE can travel approximately 160 kilometers.

The battery will charge not via a cable, as all other electric vehicles do, but through wireless technology. For this, the Infiniti LE just needs to stop over a special platform that generates an electromagnetic field. This method of charging, as claimed by Nissan engineers, will approximately double the energy exchange process, increasing efficiency to 80-90 percent!

However, with the appearance of such cars on the streets of cities, it will be necessary to replace (or at least improve) the entire infrastructure for electric vehicles. This requires time, effort, and finances. However, there is no doubt that this will be done, as the advantages of such a battery charging system are obvious!
