Zion National Park (State - Utah)

Zion National Park is located in the southwest of Utah in a colossal desert region. It took millions of years for the Virgin River to carve its way through solid rock and create the park's main attraction — Zion Canyon, which is 24 km long.

The heights of the canyon slopes in the park reach 1 kilometer, while the width in some places does not exceed 6 meters.

In the 19th century, the first Mormons who settled in these areas called the whimsical shapes of the canyon slopes 'natural temples of God.'

When we first arrived in Zion, we were simply overwhelmed by the fairy-tale quality of this place. The mountains, the clear green river, the white trees, the muted red-green palette. And of course, the red asphalt road (someone must have thought of that!). A highway runs through the entire park, allowing for slow driving and stopping at numerous parking areas.



When purchasing a ticket to the park ($25 for a week), a brochure with routes is provided. On the first day, we decided to take the popular Emerald Pools trail. It turned out to be closed halfway, but that didn't stop most people. On this trail, we felt the spring — streams were flowing, and a waterfall was pouring down the mountain:



Zion National Park is an astonishing collection of rock formations primarily carved from the local bedrock — Navajo sandstone.



The high cliffs, gloomy boulders, and deep gorges of the park create a stunning impression, shimmering in all shades from fiery red to soft pink.



At the peaks, it's still winter, the snow sparkles:
