European Car of the Year

Компактный кроссовер Volvo XC40 стал победителем конкурса "Европейский автомобиль года". Шведская марка получила эту премию впервые. Результаты голосования огласили в преддверии Женевского автосалона. Кроссовер Volvo XC40 получил 325 голосов, следующий за ним хэтчбек Seat Ibiza — 242 голоса, третьим с результатом 226 голосов стал седан BMW 5 серии. В список номинантов на премию также вошли Kia Stinger (204 балла), Citroen C3 Aircross (171 балл), Audi A8 (169 баллов) и Alfa Romeo Stelvio (163 балла).



The public debut of the Volvo XC40 took place last September at a special event in Milan. The crossover became the first model of the Swedish brand built on the modular CMA platform, which will later serve as the basis for other cars in the 40 series.

The Volvo XC40 is offered with four-cylinder Drive-E engines: the diesel D4 and the gasoline T5. The output of the former is 190 horsepower, while the latter delivers 254 horsepower. Later, a three-cylinder 1.5-liter unit (158 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque) will be available for the model, as well as a hybrid powertrain.
