Iran has suspended transit duties for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days. This was reported by Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
According to him, free navigation through one of the world's most important maritime routes is supported by many countries in the region, including China.
This decision was made against the backdrop of ongoing contacts between the USA and Iran in Switzerland. Representatives from Qatar and Pakistan are also participating in the negotiations.
US President Donald Trump stated that the USA may impose a fee for passage through the Strait of Hormuz in the event of a failed deal with Iran.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the key routes for global energy trade. A significant portion of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas exports passes through it.
