In the central part of Utah lies Capitol Reef National Park, which earned the nickname 'Wayne's Wonderland' from local enthusiasts in the 1920s who advocated for the development of the park area. Colorful canyons, ridges, rock arches, and monoliths — all of this truly makes a stunning impression. Most of the park's territory is classified as a dry desert zone.
The territory of Capitol Reef Park is a relatively narrow area, about 160 km long and covering 979 km². It is open year-round, with the most visited period from May to September.
In summer, temperatures often rise above 30 degrees, but at night the park is cool: around 10°C.
Capitol Reef, from which the entire park gets its name — is an area near the Fremont River, consisting of white sandstone cliffs, each resembling the Capitol, where the U.S. Congress is located.
