Rockstar Games has released a 26-minute gameplay trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, first shown as part of an exclusive partnership with Netflix. The trailer will be available on the service until April 27, after which it can be viewed on official platforms.

Trailer content

The video showcases typical elements of the series: street shootouts, car and motorcycle chases, helicopter flights, and police evasion. Players see the heroes moving through the central metropolis and surrounding areas, using cars, boats, and even planes.

Technical details

Special attention is given to the visual aspect. The trailer shows significantly improved character model detail, realistic facial animation, more accurate fabric physics, and dynamic lighting. The draw distance, material shaders, and weather effects are on par with modern consoles.

According to Rockstar representatives, the developers used 'current-gen' technology, allowing for a level of quality previously only available on PC. Meanwhile, the controls and interface remain familiar to the series, which should ease the transition for players from previous installments.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Previous generation platforms will not be supported, which aligns with the industry's overall trend towards transitioning to new generations.

Expectations for the new installment are driven by the success of GTA V, which has remained at the top of sales for over five years and regularly receives updates. The trailer also hints at a more vibrant urban world, where NPCs fill the streets and their behavior appears less 'scripted' than in previous games.

For the first time in its advertising campaign, Rockstar has chosen Netflix as a pioneering partner, allowing it to reach a broad audience without limiting it to traditional gaming channels. According to analysts, this move could become a model for future announcements of major projects.
