EU fined Google €890 million

- Fine of €890 million
- Changes in search and app store
- Fair treatment of competitors
The European Commission has issued two fines to Google totaling €890 million for violating existing laws in the European Union. The first fine of €460 million was imposed because the company's search service favors its own services.
The second fine of €430 million was imposed because the Google app store does not allow developers to redirect users to third-party resources with more favorable offers for free.
Google has been given 60 days to comply with the European Commission's directives on fair and non-discriminatory treatment of competitors and to allow app developers to direct users to external resources.
The European Commission, acting as the antitrust regulator, stated that there is a constructive dialogue with Google, and significant progress has been made in the company's compliance with the requirements.
The principles established in this case can be applied by Google to features in the search service; negotiations in this direction will continue.
