- Sedentary lifestyle
A recent study showed that frequent television viewing may have a negative impact on the condition of the brain's white matter.
Participants who often spent time in front of the television had an increase in the volume of hyperintense white matter on magnetic resonance imaging.
This change reflects demyelination and loss of axons due to disrupted microcirculation.
Additionally, individuals who frequently watch television showed a decrease in the volume of several areas of the cerebral cortex.
Notably, a sedentary lifestyle with cognitive loads, such as working on a computer, was associated with significantly lower risks of such outcomes.
