- Square Enix presented the Final Fantasy VII Revelation trailer at gamescom.
- The trailer showcases battles with three Weapons and flights on the 'Highwind'.
- The game will be released in spring 2027 on PC and major consoles.
- The Russian localization is not included in the official list of supported languages.
At the opening ceremony of the international gamescom exhibition, Square Enix reminded everyone about the continuation of work on the final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy – a project called Revelation. A new trailer was shown to visitors and online viewers, accompanied by a set of high-quality screenshots revealing the visual style of the upcoming installment.
Storylines and new opportunities
The plot revolves again around Sephiroth, who seeks to gain divine power by casting the Meteor spell. This event poses a threat capable of erasing all living entities from the face of the planet. The main character Cloud and his allies set off on the airship 'Highwind', which allows them to move freely around the world and parachute down to any chosen point.
The trailer emphasizes the approach of Meteor and the awakening of the so-called Weapons – the most powerful beings in the FFVII universe. Viewers see battles with three of these beings, highlighting the scale of the upcoming fights. The team of heroes is forced to split up, and decisions made during the game can affect the development of the characters' story arcs.
The context of the remake trilogy
The first part of the remake – Final Fantasy VII Remake – covers the initial hours of the original game but significantly expands them by adding new quests and details. The second part, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, continues the story, covering about twenty hours of the original plot. Revelation, scheduled for release in spring 2027, will conclude this line, wrapping up the remaining events of the original.
In addition to the main trilogy, there are additional projects within the franchise: Crisis Core – a prequel dedicated to Zack; Dirge of Cerberus – a third-person spin-off featuring Vincent as the main character; and the remake Crisis Core Reunion, adapted for modern platforms. Rumors suggest that DLC for Revelation may appear, potentially representing a remake of Dirge of Cerberus, but there are no official confirmations yet.
The release date for Revelation is announced for spring 2027. The game will be available on PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store, as well as on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. The list of supported languages does not include Russian, which will limit localization for the Russian-speaking audience.
Expectations for the final part are high: players hope to see the conclusion of the epic story, new flight mechanics, and a deeper development of characters. The trailer shown has already sparked a strong reaction in the community, confirming interest in the concluding piece of the remake project.
