DNA of ancient Saks deciphered

Paleogeneticists conducted DNA analysis of the remains of 12 individuals from the Sak burial mound Boz-Barmak in Kyrgyzstan, dating back to the 4th — 2nd centuries BC.
As a result, the genomes of nine individuals were successfully read, among whom relatives of the second and third degree were found.
The study also showed that most of the ancestors of these individuals can be traced back to earlier nomads from the territory of Kazakhstan or Western Siberia.
The results of the study were published in the journal Scientific Reports.
This discovery sheds light on the origins and migrations of ancient nomadic peoples.
