In brief
  • Dana White will not be at the press conference in London
  • The Fury-Joshua fight is scheduled for December 11 in Cardiff
  • The WBA Super heavyweight title is at stake
  • White was previously at the center of contractual disputes regarding promotion

One of the executives of Zuffa Boxing, Dana White, will not participate in the press conference dedicated to the fight between former heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua (30-4, 27 knockouts) and Tyson Fury (36-2-1, 25 knockouts). According to sources, the event is scheduled for Wednesday in London, however, White, who attended the Zuffa tournament on Saturday, is absent this time.

Reasons for absence

It was previously reported that White could pose a direct threat to the organization of the fight, as the contract states that Zuffa is not allowed to act as a promoter. Later, information emerged that Dana became a co-promoter of The Ring publication, and the 'Gypsy King' (Fury) removed from the agreement the clause prohibiting the UFC head from participating in organizing the meeting against Joshua.

These changes in contractual relations allow for the elimination of potential conflicts of interest and contribute to a more transparent fight preparation process.

The fight and its significance

The Fury-Joshua bout is set for December 11 in Cardiff, where the WBA Super heavyweight title will be at stake. The event has attracted attention from both boxing fans and international sports analysts, as both sides have impressive records and high levels of popularity.

For Joshua, a victory could be a step towards returning to title fights after a series of setbacks, while for Fury, it would confirm his dominance in the heavyweight division, where he already holds several championship belts.

White's absence from the press conference should not affect the negotiations between promoters and sports organizations, as the main issues have already been resolved and contractual restrictions lifted.

However, observers note that the presence of Zuffa representatives at such events usually enhances interest in the fight, attracting additional audiences and sponsors. Their absence may slightly reduce the media potential of the pre-fight discussion.

Overall, the upcoming fight remains one of the most anticipated in boxing for 2024, and organizational issues related to the involvement of major promotional companies continue to be in the spotlight.
